Etang de la Carpe d'Or - The Golden Carp Lake

Etang de la Carpe d’Or - The Golden Carp Lake, has been open since November 2015.

Located two minutes outside of the village of Vieux-Mareuil (24340) in the Dordogne, South-West France, The Golden Carp Lake, or Étang de la Carpe d'Or as it has been called since it was originally created, is a spring-fed 5 hectare (12 acre) sand quarry that was abandoned and flooded in the late 1970's.

It currently caters for six anglers, and features three double swims, and the “Cabin Swim” (for two angler’s and two guests), and “The Lodge”, a communal summer kitchen and eating are, with wet room shower facilities, and separate ladies’ toilet.

All of the swims come complete with double-bivvy, boat, nets, carp cradle, slings, water buckets, scales, and tripod.

Two new fully- equipped single swims will be opened for the 2020 season, allowing for a total of eight anglers per week.

The lake itself has been left relatively untouched, and its natural features, such as the reed beds, sunken trees, overhanging branches, and depths between 30cm to over 3.5m, provide the perfect environment for the resident carp

So, if you fancy catching the fish of a lifetime (that has potentially never been caught before), in an environment that prioritises serious anglers and their families alike, then get booked in at Étang de la Carpe d'Or - The Golden Carp Lake today!
