Distinct from the majority of Banff hotels, Buffalo Mountain Lodge is situated on the gentle slopes of Tunnel Mountain – formerly called “Sleeping Buffalo” by native peoples living in the region. The architectural style is simple elegance with hand-hewn construction. The main lodge features a massive fieldstone fireplace, high, open beam ceilings accented with bent willow, cherry and pine furniture where a magnificent buffalo head is mounted above the fireplace. The main lodge has a cozy lobby bar and two well-equipped conference rooms.
There are 108 comfortable guestrooms, which can accommodate from two to four people. There are three categories of rooms: Premier, Lodge and One Bedroom Suites. All rooms feature a wood burning fireplace, cozy duvets, telephone, full cable television, coffee maker, clock radio, hair dryer, and iron/ironing board. High-speed Internet access is available. The Premier rooms have a DVD and an oversized bathroom with a heated floor, old-fashioned claw-footed bathtub, and a glass enclosed shower. One Bedroom Suites have a separate bedroom with a DVD and a living room area with kitchenette.
